Regenerative Cell Therapies

Regenerative Cell Therapies Prove Successful in Relieving Pain

SEMGeeks2017-09-14T21:26:14-04:00

Regenerative Cell Therapies have been gaining popularity in the pain management field as effective, successful protocol for patients with both chronic and acute pain.

These innovative technologies are  now used to treat orthopedic and sports injuries in knees, hips, shoulders, both rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, and disorders of the cervical spine. Additionally, improvements are often realized in patients suffering from multiple scelerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, stroke and other neurological conditions. Research continues to offer progress and positive results.

Stem cells are cells with the potential to develop into many different cell types. They are able to divide and become specialized cells of the body, such as muscle cells, blood cells or other cells with specific functions. The process of changing into a specific cell type is referred to as “differentiation”; for example, when cells divide to renew and repair existing tissue.

Amnio Fluid Injection Therapy is a safe and successful treatment with absolutely no risk for rejection in the patient. What is involved in this procedure?  In simple terms, the amniotic tissue is a membrane found in the center layer of fetal placenta in the amniotic cavity.  This membrane has only one layer of tissue that contains a high number of specialized cells which promote healing.

Amniotic-derived fluid offers an incredible abundance of healing properties including:  Natural anti-inflammatory response, pain relief, and tissue growth, along with the presence of hyaluronic acid which serves to lubricate joints and stimulate the growth of new cartilage.

Amniotic fluid injections do not contain steriods, relying instead on naturally occurring anti-inflammatory agents, such as cytokines. Because of its high concentration of stem cells, it is preferable to  embryonic stem cells and even the patients own cells (from fat or bone marrow).

“In our procedures, we use carefully-screened amniotic fluid provided by a certified, reputable lab.  These growth factors are then injected into the body where they detect the damaged cells and attempt to restore them.  Patients have reported a reduction or elimination of pain, increased strength and mobility, and quicker healing and recovery,” explains Dr. Shailendra Hajela of Jersey Rehab Pain Management, “we have performed numerous injections without incident of a single reported adverse side effect.”

These Regenerative Therapies are quickly becoming an excellent alternative to patients suffering from spinal and joint pain, many times eliminating the need for surgery.

Dr. Shailendra Hajela is board certified in Pain, Physical Medicine and Rehabiliation, and Sports Medicine. He practices at Jersey Rehab Pain Management in Belleville, Hackensack. Rumson, Bronx, and Manhattan. Visit www.jerseyrehab.com for more information.
